The future of business is in the hands of young leaders. The HICC is home to over 25 young professionals who are building their business networks and developing their careers.

The young professionals (YP) committee organizes and hosts events for Chamber members aged 21 to 39. The committee’s goal is to develop young business leaders through networking events and activities.

Dennis Lin and Krystle De Los Santos are the YP committee chairs for the 2021-2022 fiscal year.

One of the committee’s ongoing goals is to create more structure. Last year, subcommittees were established to focus on professional development, membership and recruitment, the Recognition Event Program, and social aspects.

“I enjoy being able to connect members with each other and learn about all the different skill sets each person brings to the table,” says Lin. “The committee has also allowed me to see what amazing young professionals we have in the Chamber and in the community.”

The committee is planning a Young Professional Recognition event which will recognize a YP committee member who has exemplified professional excellence through Chamber involvement and community service. The event will take place on Oct. 16, 2021.

“It’s amazing to be part of this group and share thoughts and ideas with like minded individuals that are just starting out in the professional and business world,” De Los Santos says.

The YP committee meets in person at the Chamber office and online via Zoom on the second Thursday of each month at 4 p.m. For more information, please email dennis.lin@hpmhawaii.com or krystle.delossantos@hpmhawaii.com.
