YP Professional Development Class: Practicing Empathy in Conflict Resolution

Dr. Colby Miyose (Ph.D., University of Massachusetts, Amherst) is an Assistant Professor at the University of Hawaiʻi, Hilo in the Department of Communication, and the Second Vice Chair for the Asian Pacific American Studies Caucus and Division for the National Communication Association. He has two areas of expertise, the first being media studies and identity and ideology formation, and the second being relational communication. He teaches classes such as Communication and Popular Culture, Darkside of Communication, Conflict and Resolution, Impact of Mass Media, Mass Media Analysis, Interpersonal Communication, and Family Communication. 

This informative and helpful class will cover:

• Dark conflict tendencies

• And this thing called an and-stance in practicing empathy
